Sanofi says to launchAcomplia in France next month
PARIS, Feb 13 (Reuters) - Sanofi-Aventisplans to launch its anti-obesity drug Acomplia in France in March, the company's head of operations Hanspeter Spek said on Tuesday.
The move follows a decision by the French health authority's Transparency Committee last week to recommend that Acomplia be reimbursed when it is prescribed for certain obese diabetics.
The product went on sale in some European markets from last summer and Spek told a post-results meeting that sales in these markets had met the company's expectations.
However, Sanofi has faced a series of delays in winning a green light for the drug in the United States, the world's biggest market, where the Food and Drug Administration is now not expected to make a decision on the product until late July.
